When the harvest becomes the reason, we are enslaved by the fruit of our own actions. The present and the people in it turn into instruments, and, blinded by the fruit, we will harm to reach the end. For the next thirty minutes, let us take one thing we are pouring ourselves into, understand what truly drives us to it, ask whether it is worth dying for, and see clearly what our pursuit of it costs the things around us. Integrity is not the reward for good work, it’s work done for its own sake, the kind that cannot be bought, rushed into cruelty, or corrupted.
